Chlorophyceae

A class of the *Chlorophyta.  In some classifications it contains all the orders of the Chlorophyta except the Charales (see Charophyta). In other classifications the orders are divided between the Chlorophyceae, *Oedogoniophyceae, *Bryopsidophyceae, and *Zygnemaphyceae. In the latter system the Chlorophyceae contains the orders *Volvocales, Tetrasporales, *Chlorococcales , *Ulotrichales , *Ulvales , Prasiolales, Microsporales, and Chaetophorales.
