Millon's test

A technique used to demonstrate the presence of the amino acid tyrosine. Millon's A, a mixture of sulphuric acid and mercury(II) sulphate is added to the test solution. A yellow colour indicates the presence of protein. A drop of Millon's B, a sodium nitrite solution, is then added. A red colour indicates a positive reaction.
