vegetative nucleus

(vegetative cell) The large nucleus formed within the pollen grain of angiosperms along with one or two smaller generative nuclei. After germination of the pollen grain it migrates to the tip of the pollen tube where it may be termed the tube nucleus. It is thought to control the growth and development of the pollen tube and disintegrates when the pollen tube penetrates the nucellus.
