ribulose

A five-carbon ketose sugar. In the phosphorylated form, ribulose 5-phosphate, it is an intermediate in the pentose phosphate pathway and the *Calvin cycle. As *ribulose bisphosphate it is important as the carbon dioxide acceptor in photosynthesis.
