regeneration

The regrowth of tissues and organs from differentiated tissues of the plant. It is seen following damage or when an organ is removed from the parent plant. The technique of grafting relies on the regeneration of vascular tissue, while vegetative propagation techniques of taking shoot, root, or leaf cuttings depends on the ability of such segments to regenerate complete plants.
