wound hormone

Any substance produced by damaged cells , that diffuses into nearby undamaged cells and there stimulates meristematic activity, resulting in the formation of a protective callus. Auxins, gibberellins, and certain products of wounding have been implicated in the wounding reaction. See also traumatic acid.
