The arrangement of floral parts, intermediate between * hypogyny and * epigyny in which the sepals, petals, and stamens are inserted on the receptacle at about the same level as the ovary. Perigynous flowers, e.g. cinquefoils (Potentilla), are seen when the receptacle becomes flattened or concave, in contrast to hypogynous flowers in which the receptacle is convex.
