oxidoreductase

Any *enzyme that catalyses oxidation-reduction reactions. The two main groups are the pyridine-linked and the flavin-linked *dehydrogenases. Electron-transferring proteins, notably the iron-sulphur proteins and the cytochromes, may also be classed as oxidoreductases. See also oxidase.
