Pollination by pollen carried by birds. It is an important form of pollination for many tropical species, the most common pollinators being hummingbirds (in South America) and sunbirds (in Africa). Many of the less specialized species of Fuchsia and Lopezia are bird pollinated. Bird-pollinated flowers are often red in colour. Pollination by insects (entomophily) is believed to be derived from ornithophily.
