hermaphrodite

(monoclinous) Having both male and female reproductive parts in the same flower. This condition is thought to be derived from a primitive unisexual floral arrangement involving wind pollination and to have developed simultaneously with animal pollination. The hermaphrodite arrangement lends itself to self pollination and inbreeding but many species have intricate self incompatibility systems. Compare dicliny , dioecious , monoecious.
