exoscopic embryogeny

*Embryogeny in which, of the two cells resulting from the  first  division  of  the  egg  cell,  the outer gives rise to the embryo and the inner to the foot.  It is seen in the Bryophyta,    Psilopsida,   and    Sphenopsida. Compare endoscopic embryogeny.
