(cellular slime moulds) A class of the Myxomycota containing organisms that feed on soil bacteria. It includes some 25 species divided among 10 genera. Cellular slime moulds are made up of an aggregation of * myxamoebae forming a * pseudoplasmodium . These produce uncovered masses of walled spores or pseudospores by a process different from that of other fungi. The cellular slime moulds are often classified as an order (Acrasiales) of the Myxomycetes.
