Hormogonales

(Oscillatoriales) An order of the *Cyanophyta containing the filamentous blue-green algae. The filaments may be composed of roughly equal-sized cells, as in Nostoc, or cell size may diminish from base to apex, as in Gloeotrichia. Heterocysts and hormogonia are often present.
