Gasteromycetes

A class of the *Basidiomycotina containing the most advanced basidiomycetes. These have a well developed basidiocarp and basidiospores that are not discharged forcibly. It contains about 700 species in some 150 genera and includes the orders Hymenogastrales (false truffles), *Lycoperdales , *Nidulariales , and *Phallales.
