vallecular canal

A longitudinal channel in the stem internode of Equisetum and some of its fossil relatives, positioned radially opposite a longitudinal furrow (valley) between the stem ridges. The vallecular canals are arranged roughly between the vascular bundles. Compare carinal canal.
