sagittate

Describing a structure shaped like an arrowhead. Sagittate leaves have two barbs extending back behind the point where the petiole is joined to the leaf. They are characteristic of the genus Sagittaria. The marsh arrow-grass (Triglochin palustris) is so named because of its sagittate dehisced fruits.
