relative humidity

The ratio of the amount of water vapour present in a body of air at any given temperature compared to the maximum possible amount that that body can contain at the same temperature. Relative humidity influences *transpiration , which is more rapid when relative humidity is low. It is also an important factor affecting the outbreak and spread of many plant diseases (see Beaumont period).
