palmate

(digitate) 1. Describing a compound leaf having four or more leaflets arising from a single point. The leaves of the horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) and of lupins (Lupinus) are examples.
2. Describing a form of venation in which several equally prominent veins branch out from the base of the leaf blade. See also actinodromous.
