microsome

A small vesicle that forms from *endoplasmic reticulum. Microsomes separate out during centrifugation of cell homogenates. Fragments of membrane are seldom found after centrifugation, and, with their continuous membranes, microsomes thus demonstrate the ability of membranes to repair themselves.
