lipopolysaccharide

Any molecule containing both lipid and carbohydrate elements. Lipopolysaccharides are the principal components of gram-negative bacterial cell walls. Such molecules have a repeating trisaccharide backbone, to which are. attached side chains of oligosaccharides and the fatty acid 3-hydroxymyristic acid.
