holoenzyme

The catalytically active complex, consisting of enzyme plus cofactor, that is formed by enzymes requiring a cofactor for activity. In some cases the holoenzyme may be extremely complex. For example, pyruvate dehydrogenase contains three different cofactors organized in a multienzyme complex. See also coenzyme , apoenzyme.
