gummosis

A symptom of certain plant diseases in which there is an abundant formation of gum. Gummosis often occurs on trees but may occur on herbaceous plants, e.g. infection of young cucumber fruits with the cucumber scab fungus (Cladosporium cucumerinum) results in secretion of gum at the edge of the lesions.
