GTP

(guanosine triphosphate) A nucleoside  triphosphate  containing  the base guanine. It is formed from GDP (guanosine diphosphate) and phosphate during the deacylation of succinyl CoA to succinate in the TCA cycle. GTP plays a role in the activation of fatty acids, in gluconeogenesis,   and   in   the   initiation and   elongation   of   polypeptide   chains during protein synthesis.
