germ pore

A thin-walled area on a spore or pollen-grain wall through which the germ tube may emerge on germination. In the pollen grain the germ pore is an area where the exine is either thinner or absent. Pollen grains may be identified to some extent by the shape and number of the germ pores. See colpus , pore.
