generative cell

One of the cells found in the pollen tube of seed plants (see also  tube  cell,   vegetative  nucleus).   In gymnosperms it gives rise to the *body cell and stalk cell whereas in angiosperms it gives rise directly to the two male gametes or *generative nuclei.
