form genus

1. Any genus in which imperfect states of fungi are placed. Similarly a form species is a species of imperfect fungus. When the connection between an imperfect state and a perfect state is established then the name of the perfect state takes precedence, although both names are still valid.

2. A group of fossil species whose affinities are unknown.
