fibre-tracheid

A xylary *fibre that resembles a *tracheid in its possession of bordered pits, although these are usually less conspicuous than those of tracheids. Fibre-tracheids appear to exhibit characters intermediate between those of fibres and tracheids and are believed to represent evidence for a phylogenetic relationship between the two.
