dwarfism

Stunted growth, often due to a fault in genetic composition. The condition often involves the alteration of the proportions of the various body parts. In plants, dwarfism is frequently caused by a *gibberellin deficiency, as in the case of the pea. The application of exogenous gibberellin usually causes internode elongation and the production of a plant of normal size.
