diffusion pressure deficit

(DPD, suction pressure) In older terminology, the net force or pressure that causes water to enter a plant cell. Its magnitude is the   difference   between   the   *osmotic pressure (II) and the *turgor pressure (TP), i.e. DPD = II—TP. See water potential.
