dichasium

(dichasial cyme) A *cymose inflorescence in which the apices develop into flowers and two lateral branches develop below each apex from axillary buds at a common node. This gives a symmetrical appearance to the inflorescence, as seen in stitchwort (Stellaria holostea). Compare monochasium.
