cytomixis

The apparent migration of cytoplasm and nuclear material from one pollen mother cell to another through pores (cytomictic channels) in the cell walls. It occurs prior to and during the prophase stage of meiosis. The reason for this is unknown though it may be a response to the nutritional problems of developing reproductive cells.
