craspedromous

Describing a form of leaf venation in which there is a single primary vein running down the centre of the leaf with secondary veins branching off this in an essentially parallel fashion. In traditional terminology such venation is described as penni-parallel. An example is the leaf of the sweet chestnut (Castanea sativa).
