chemotropism

A *tropism in response to a chemical stimulus. Thus, when a Pollen tube grows through an agar culture towards a piece of implanted pistil, it exhibits two forms of chemotropism, namely negative aerotropism in growing away from oxygen and positive chemotropism in growing towards those chemicals exuding from the pistil.
