Cambrian

The earliest period of geological time in the Palaeozoic era from about 570 to 500 million years ago. Cambrian rocks contain abundant fossils of the marine organisms of that period, i e. algae and such invertebrate animals as trilobites and brachiopods. Colonization of the land had not yet occurred. It is believed that the climate was uniformly warm. See geological time scale.
