A class of the *Deuteromycotina
containing the imperfect yeasts. It includes about 200 species in some 20 genera and is divided into the Cryptococcales, which reproduce by budding and do not form ballistospores; and the Sporobolomycetales, which reproduce by budding and ballistospores. Most of the Cryptococcales are imperfect states of the *Endomycetales
. The order includes the parasitic genus Candida, which causes thrush in man. The Sporobolomycetales (the mirror or shadow yeasts) are imperfect states of basidiomycetes, such as the Tremellales
. Many (e.g. Sporobolomyces and Tilletiopsis) are found as epiphytes on leaves.
