bicollateral bundle

A *vascular bundle in which the phloem occurs both internal and external to the xylem, as in the stems of some dicotyledons, e.g. members of the Solanaceae. The presence of bicollateral bundles distinguishes solanaceous plants from members of the Scrophulariaceae. Compare collateral bundle, concentric bundle.
