albuminous cell

1. A specialized parenchyma cell, physiologically and anatomically associated with a sieve cell in gym-nosperm phloem. Albuminous cells are analogous to the companion cells of an-giosperm phloem but unlike companion cells they do not usually arise from the same mother cell as the sieve element.

2. An albumen-containing cell, found in certain seeds.
