A fruitlike structure that has developed from the carpels of a single flower and is composed of a number of separate fruits. It may be an aggregation of achenes (as in Anemone), berries (as in Actaea), drupelets (as in Rubus), follicles (as in Delphinium), or samaras (as in Liriodendron). The term etaerio is often used to mean any aggregate fruit but its use is sometimes restricted to a collection of drupelets.
