Taxales

An order of gymnosperms containing five extant genera (including Taxus, the yews) and about 20 species all in the family Taxaceae. They are often included within the order Coniferales but differ from conifers in having solitary ovules borne on short terminal shoots. The Taxales also have a distinct fossil record going back to the Triassic.
