Pyrenomycetes

A class of the *Ascomycotina containing those ascomycetes that produce a *perithecium. With over 6000 species and some 640 genera it is the largest group of ascomycetes and contains      the      orders      Hypocreales, *Clavicipitales , *Sphaeriales , Coronophorales, Coryneliales, and *Pyrenulales.
