Plasmodium

The motile multinucleate amoeba-like mass of protoplasm that makes up the thallus of fungi in the *Myxomycetes. It develops from the zygote and in favourable conditions forms sporangia. In adverse conditions it may change into a dry resting body, the sclerotium.
