Hyphomycetes

A class of the *Deuteromycotina containing mycelial imperfect fungi, which, if fertile, bear the conidia on hyphae. It contains over 7500 species in some 930 genera and is divided into the orders *Agonomycetales , *Hyphomycetales , Stilbellales, and Tuberculariales. In the latter two orders the conidiophores are compacted into specialized structures. Compare Coelomycetes.
