Chytridiomycetes

A class of the *Mastigomycotina containing simple fungi that typically produce motile cells with a posterior whiplash flagellum. It contains 110 genera and some 685 species and comprises the four orders *Chytridiales , Harpochytridiales, Blastocladiales, and Monoblepharidales.
